With our year group exhibition Tantamount B just around the corner, I've been working a piece in preparation for it. This is abstract landscape inspired by the landscapes in Canterbury, kent. I was to create a dark and sinister piece with thick, impasto, gestural marks. I wanted to create a piece with a minimal composition, contrasting marks with a lot of detail.
As we were not allowed to hang paintings on the wall, i decided to return home to Horton Manor Chapel to find a found object for a plinth for the painting to sit on. I managed to get a hold of original oak frame from the chapel dating back 1107 which gave the paint another element, almost creating a sculptural piece. Tantamount B was a successful exhibition with lots of positive feedback and have given me a lot to think about in future exhibitions.
More information on exhibitions will be on here, watch this space.
